Not entirely sure if this is where I should post this, but it is directly Megaman related so...
So a little while back this site posted a news article about MML3's Aero showing up in Capcom's Oto ranger/sound ranger game- www.themmnetwork.com/blog/2014/1/8/capcom-confounds-with-newest-sound-ranger-addition , in the comments of which I mentioned I'm a big fan of the game, and about a week ago Rockman corner mention she's coming out in about a week for the Sound ranger six month anniversary- www.rockman-corner.com/2014/02/aero-joining-sound-rangers-next-week.html . Well I got her and since it's not big enough news to be front page news on any sites, I thought I'd give you guys an update just in case anyone is interested.
Just for background, Sound ranger is a turn based RPG/rhythm game for IOS and one of the many, many IOS gotcha games where you collect and level up a bunch of little units pokemon style. Right now the game has 787 characters total(well, a lot are different stages/forms of characters), mostly original characters but a decent chunk of which are crossover Capcom characters like Megaman, Author, Hiyato, Moragan, Tiffany, Ingrid ect.. Aero(or "Aero-chan as her character is called in game) is one of those characters. She's a pretty damn good unit, by far the best free promo they've given out, but that's not really interesting unless you play the game I suppose.
Anyway, interesting stuff. Some people seemed to be worried the game was passing her off as an original character like Capcom sometimes does with unused designs. It doesn't, she's clearly listed as a Rockman character in game, just like the other 15 or so Megaman characters, and she's between the other Megaman Legends characters in the character library.
Her character skill is "Worn Out/Broken Down Radar" (おんぼろレーダー) and her leader skill is (さいちな夢), which could mean "momentary dream", "meticulous dream", or "intelligent dream". I'd go with "momentary dream", and it's probably a reference to the MML3 project, but that's just me making assumptions. Her Megazord is a giant walking weaponized Capcom corporate building, which is the Megazord for ALL of the crossover characters except the Classic series Megaman ones and the Monster Hunter ones.
Her character bio says-
ボージャクブジンのガーター族、「ブライトバッッツ」のイドル!美しい海に囲まれたクリカラン島に住み、明るく楽しく元気に暮らしているらしぞ。たこボーンたこ焼きが大好物。
Translated by me-
She's the idol of the Bojakubujin(?) Garter Family(the Japanese name for the Rebel Riders) known as the "Bright Bats"! She lives on Klickelan island, a beautiful island surrounded by the sea, where she lives a bright, fun, energetic life. Her favorite food is fried octopus.
So yeah, noting major. As far as what this means in terms of Capcom's plans MML3 and Megaman as a whole, my personal guess is absolutely nothing at all. Judging from what I've read on their posts on twitter and such and judging from their choices of crossover characters so far (4 characters from Star gladiator of all things, the three characters from the canceled Capcom fighting jam, a few rival school characters, a disproportionately large number of megaman character compared to everything else coupled with the fact that the Soundranger devs are apparently big megaman fans, still no street fight or resident evil characters), I would guess that Capcom corporate has very little to with which crossover characters show up, and it was the Soundranger team that wanted to put Aero in. And obviously the dev team doesn't have much say with what Capcom does with their franchises. If they did they would probably be making a Megaman game right now.
So that's my huge wall of text. I hope at least someone finds it interesting!
