Seriously, this game looks better than SF x MM in a lot of aspects (no offense), especially the NES difficulty, but i'm sure a lot of people won't even try it because they are scared of horses or something... If at least one person here checks this game out because of this thread, then my job is done. (`_´)ゞ Download link in video description or here

To be fair, we don't have to be afraid of horses, just not into MLP:FiM. Slight chance I'll give it a try, because it does look impressive. Well, to me.

I've gone through most of it.
+Character animation matches the show quite will. +Some of the level design is quite clever. In particular, Rarity's stage and the teleportation chambers in Twilight Sparkle's stage. +Lots of in-jokes for fans of the show. +An item shop is always good.
-Some of the stage design is quite hideous. Pinkie Pie's stage is probably the worse offender, with the balloon part requiring some exacting pixel-perfect jumping to get through. There's tricky jumps, and then there's BS such as this. -Very few areas offers opportunity for relatively easy money grinding. So if you want to get some of the more expensive stuff in the shop, be prepared to go at it for awhile. -Bugs are present. In particular, the second fortress stage has constant slowdown (really bad, considering its a long stage) -Some of the special weapons are difficult to use. In particular, Rarity's Gems, and Applejack's applebucking attacks. -Too much of a nod to Mega Man 2 in general. Give nods to MM4 or 5 for a change...
Overall, it's worth a look, but certain issues keeps me from being enthusiastic about it.
For anyone that wants weakness order:
Fluttershy --> Twilight Sparkle --> Applejack --> Rarity --> Rainbow Dash --> Pinkie Pie --> Fluttershy
Fluttershy is the easiest to deal with first.

Also, if this is a fan based MLP:FiM game, it needs Starscream.
...
Besides the whole Screw Attack fight, there is just serious cross-pollination between Hasbro properties. I don't know if it is still true, but one of the biggest MLP:FiM message boards was My Little Allsparkle... a sub-forum on The Allspark (a major Transformers message board). Occasionally they even get someone shocked to find out that My Little Allsparkle is actually a subforum. Even a token reference (test somewhere in a level) would spike my interest, and those of similar Transformers otaku!
If you ever do another update and add in a bonus boss fight against anything resembling Starscream (or his spark, which means just a glowing, floating energy orb), you pretty much make this required playing for Transformers fanboys.

Even a token reference (test somewhere in a level) would spike my interest, and those of similar Transformers otaku! My Little Allsparkle is still around, if that's what you were wondering (just doublechecked). Anyway, some more comments, now that I've gone through the whole game... More pluses/minuses +While you don't start off with the Mega Buster, you can at least buy it in the item shop. +You can unlock and play as Mega Man himself. +You can shop n' save after each fortress level. +After beating the game, you can play as the mane six. Though some of them are difficult to use. +There's also a unlockable boss rush mode. Good for getting practice on some of those guys. +The ending fake-out was clever, and very Discord-ish. The very last level is quite inspired. -Now that I have the Mega Buster, I keep trying to slide. It's very disorientating to have the MB, but be unable to slide. -There's now a Ver. 1.1 of the game, but it doesn't seem to have resolved the slowdown the second fortress stage. Some notes on the fortress stages: Stage 1: the map makes it looks like there's a hidden/branching pathway, but apparently, it's that one part where you're required to zigzag to get to the ladder to continue climbing. The dragon boss is a nod to one episode of the show, and to MM2. Use Fluttershy's attack once, then use regular attacks the rest of the time. This way, it will only use the first phase of its attacks. Stage 2: The water level. The one that slows down for me. The boss is a windigo. Twilight's magic attack seems to be its weakness. Just watch out for when it does the tornado attack. Stage 3: At the very end, you're walking to the boss door and then you fall through the floor.[/Zecora] As far as I can tell, you can't get to the other end of the gate. I've tried using Rainbow Dash's dash attack, and never managed to reach the gate. Boss is a giant Cutie Mark Crusader robot with three heads (one for each of the crusaders). Their weaknesses are their respective sisters' attacks (or honorary sister, in Scootaloo's case). Stage 4: The usual hop and skip to the boss rush, then the typical 2-part final boss fight. I think the Discord tank's (in both forms) weakness is Twilight magic. I'd suggest saving it for the second part. Then the ending fake-out... Stage 5: Now we know what'd happen if Discord were to glitch out a game... Final boss is Sigma Discord. Doesn't seem to have a weakness. So just figure out the patterns of the fireballs, and charge up those shots. Some energy tanks are always good... I have yet to go through the game as one of the mane six, so I don't know how that affects the ending.

It was its place of prominence in the MLP:FiM fan community that I was uncertain of; posters surprised to find out (after having been there for a bit) that it was actually a TF message board with a sub-forum said that My Little Allsparkle popped up easily in search strings and/or was popular.

Broke down and gave it a try. My reference for traditional classic 2D Mega Man style games I've just played Street Fighter X Mega Man, Mega Man Unlimited, and now (partially) Mega Pony. Mega Pony seems to fall in between the two. Mega Man Unlimited had already had some bugs fixed, so it may not be fair (though this was before the difficulty had been tweaked). So it plays fairly well, and I would probably get more out of the sometimes detailed animations if I was familiar with MLP:FiM. The music doesn't play on most stages, and it gets hit by slowdown, but no where near as bad as SF X MM (MMU seldom slows down for me). There is none of the input freeze of SF X MM, either, even when slowing down. Digging some of the extra options, namely infinite lives - a suitable easy mode for a laid back Thanksgiving.

Okay, so I've beaten the game on "easy" (a.k.a. I turned the Lives option to "Infinite"). This unlocks Boss Rush and the ability to play as the Mane Six. I've only tried a two so far (Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash). The Starscream-killer proved easier to play as so I've gotten back to the fortress stages with her. Definitely tricky in that she lacks a true ranged attack (I am not such a good player, so I regularly damage myself and enemies at the same time), but being a Pegasus Pony makes a lot of the jumping easier (including bypassing certain puzzles) and sometimes having an infinite dashing attack is pretty sweet.
The main problem is that she also does stuff the programmers either couldn't prevent or didn't realize, like "breaking" the game by flying someplace normally inaccessible... usually off screen someplace you couldn't normally reach. I've done this twice so far, once in a regular stage (I don't know the character names well enough... the Stage where you get the Apple Bucker) where there was a latter on the leftside of the screen and open space the rest of it, and I was able to fly off the upper right (or right upper =P) corner and had to restart my game. Just now in the Fortress, battling the Dragon boss, did the same thing.
Also... either I discovered either an intentional Achilles' Heel for the final boss, or an amazingly cheap oversight in the programming. XD
