Hey everyone,
I've been a fan of Mega man since the 80s like many people, have a fairly large collection, played all the games, etc. It's been my favorite series out of all the video game franchises over the last 30 years, and it means a lot to me. I don't normally follow community stuff online, but I noticed that Reddit had a Mega Man page which I thought was cool. When Mega Man 11 came out I wrote a article about it, just sighting some stuff on what I liked and disliked. I admit it wasn't my favorite Mega Man title, and I tried to be constructive about the things I didn't enjoy in the game, and what I hope for future titles of Rock Man. Like I said, I have no idea what the community thinks since I never follow anything, and just put my own thoughts on paper since I love the series quite a bit. I got downvoted dozens and dozens of times on that site, called slurs, and had a lot of unsavory stuff said to me. I was just kind of shocked at how people were acting, and even if I was in the minority on not fully enjoying MM11, I don't see why someone can't have a constructive converation about the positives and negatives. Needless to say I didn't have a good experience with Reddit.
I've been following the Mega Man Network website for a while just for news pieces, and just wanted to ask if most people are tolerant of others opinions on here? I'm hoping what happened on the other site was just bad luck and some rough people, and fans are more welcoming to others on here.
Anyway thanks for your time!

Well, there's almost nobody left here, but if there were, sure, we'd be very tolerant and welcoming.

I use the Network site for news stuff but never really checked the community part. I posted a little message on one of the newer articles but that's about it. I know Reddit has a big Mega Man community but that's the place I wrote my article for 11 and got a lot of negative reception, so that's the only reason I don't use that. Thanks again!

Welcome, magic.
I haven't read your article or played Mega Man 11 (yet). Maybe I'd agree with your criticisms, maybe I wouldn't, but if I did disagree and I resorted to name calling, it'd be rather abnormal for this forum. I'm not going to promise it would never happen, but even before our numbers thinned so much, we were pretty relaxed.
As for why we are so few, there were multiple contributing factors. The previous message board we used was lost, and with it, I'm sure some folks who were more casual participants, maybe even some who were more active. These were originally touted as "temporary" forums, which may have convinced some to wait to join up for the "real deal". The big thing is, I think, that forums like this just aren't as heavily populated as they once were. Twitter, Reddit, etc. are more popular.
Oh, and don't forget Capcom seeming to abandon Mega Man for so long. If Capcom gets back on track, I think we will as well.

Okay thanks for the help, I haven't really followed any communities for video games for the most part, but I've always used the Megaman Network for news sources. I just wanted to talk to other people who like the same things as me, and share some of the stuff I have since I've collected a lot of rare merchandise over the years since the 80s, along with the record speed run for a while in Mega Man 9. I like hearing other peoples opinions and enjoy hearing stuff that doesn't agree with me, because it lets me learn and see things from another perspective. I just don't like what happened on the Reddit, and when they start name calling, racial slurs, etc I'm not okay with it. I don't follow Reddit much but it left a bad impression for me, and that's why i never bothered going back.
